Hi everyone,
There’s almost nothing I love more than finding something I know I’ll be able to wear multiple ways the whole year. Jeans, a blazer and loafers are obvious examples. A coat and boots are other mainstays, although they are a bit more seasonal.
I value these items because they make it much easier to get dressed and I feel good in them. So they tend to be a focus when I’m shopping.
I’ve recently come to realise that for me white jeans also belong in this category. The context for this discovery is that I had wanted a pair for ages but wasn’t sure how much I would wear them. But then a cool and interesting version came my way - on sale and in my size.
After try ons at home with different jackets, tops and shoes I was convinced. They just pair so well with the rest of my wardrobe, both summer and winter. I really didn’t expect that.
So let me illustrate.
Right now it’s the end of winter in Australia and the chill has subsided. This means I’m wearing my white jeans with a blazer, t shirt and boots, adding a thin cashmere cardigan as an extra layer when needed.
I think this formula would also work well in autumn -

When spring arrives I’ll simply swap the boots for ballet flats and omit the cardigan.
In summer, my new jeans will offer the possibility of wearing all white, something I’ve always wanted to try -
When winter rolls around again I’ll go back to wearing my grey coat and black boots. White jeans will give these pieces a lift -
To be clear, blue denim would be perfectly good - great in fact - in each of the above scenarios. But having white jeans as an option adds something fresh to the mix. It just seems to lighten the look overall.
So, what kind of white jeans? Mine are a loose, slightly barrel shaped cut. But any silhouette you prefer will work - straight, wide leg or cropped.
And if white, off white or cream denim isn’t really your thing, then try a pale blue wash. It will give you a similar effect.
That’s it for now, thank you for reading. It means so much to have your support and as always I’d love to hear what you think. You can also follow the blog via Instagram @jenniefromtheblog.
Between now and next time I’ll be thinking about this question - ‘What are the wardrobe items worth investing in?’ I’ll have all the answers in two weeks! See you then.
