Hi everyone,
How are you all? Thanks for being here and a quick reminder of my instagram account details - @jenniefromtheblog.
In the most recent issue of the blog I talked about every day clothes and flagged that I would write about some of the ‘go to’ items in my own wardrobe.
First up is the ballet flat - a perfect and incredible example of which is below (FYI currently on sale here enter code FLASH25-SS24)!
But I’m getting sidetracked…
Last year I purchased a simple pair of black ballet flats - not those above sadly. To be clear I hadn’t intended to buy any such thing. But I was somehow taken by their classic shape, hand made feel and how comfortable they were. And all of this coming in at an unbelievable $85!
It wasn’t until months later that I started wearing them with absolutely everything - jeans, tailored trousers, the occasional skirt. I even changed into them at a wedding when my heels became too uncomfortable. Perfect for work or casual. Good for now and almost any time of the year.
I wish I could include a link so you could grab some for yourself. But I regret to say the only way to purchase them involves a trip to Lisbon, Portugal. If that happens to be on the agenda the store is called Lisbonense. I highly recommend a visit!
I should not have been surprised at the versatility of the ballet flat though because I’ve had similar shoes before. Fifteen or 20 years ago admittedly. And they seem to be enjoying a moment again. So here is a selection of what’s on offer.
These from Aeyde - a mid priced Italian brand - are great. They come in lots of colours (or neutrals to be precise). Silver works well with everything I think and is a low risk escape from black.
Here is another excellent example from the same label -
Sometimes a ballet flat can slip off if it’s too wide for your foot. These from Lanvin will always stay put thanks to an elasticised instep -
As will these from APC crafted in an interesting textured fabric -
And consider this chic caramel pair from Christian Louboutin. A splurge but less of one than is needed for the crystal beauties at the top!
I hope that helps. The right shoes really can transform an outfit so I’m going to continue on with this topic. Next time I’ll be talking about loafers. So see you in two weeks and bye for now.
x
Jennie
All the examples are very cute. Edgy but feminine.
Have been wearing ballet flats off and on for decades… so comfy and enjoyed reading your update brands Jennie
