Hi everyone
Hope you’re well, great to be with you again. And thank you to those of you that have joined me on Instagram! It’s good to be able to connect with you there as well as here. If you missed the details you can find me @jenniefromtheblog.
Last time I wrote about trans seasonal jackets. As a follow up to that I really want to explore the theme of year round pieces a bit more.
I confess, I spend a lot of time in activewear. It’s just so comfortable. When I start the morning with a walk or gym - or at least intend to - it’s a sure bet I’ll be wearing leggings for the rest of the day. Ditto when working from home.
But as much as I love Lululemon, it’s the other well worn things in my wardrobe that I want to talk about. I’m thinking here of the things I reach for most of the time. When the weather isn’t really hot, cold or wet.
Reasons to think about everyday wear
When a special occasion is on the horizon we sometimes spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to wear. Although this can be fun, I think it’s the pieces we wear habitually that really demand our attention. It seems only sensible to examine them more closely.
The clothes we choose day to day will differ for each of us. So I think it’s good to try and identify what they are. Why? Because developing a consciousness of what we like to wear has many benefits.
It gives us a starting point for thinking about personal style. It equips us to build a wardrobe that actually works. It provides clarity on which pieces most deserve our time and money. It encourages intentional rather than impulse buying. And it might even inspire us to try something a bit different.
My daily favourites
So let me lead by example and think on my own choices. I’ve used bold text below to emphasise key items.
I live in jeans. Wide leg, straight, dark or faded denim I love them all. Day or night. I also like leather or tailored trousers especially for work or when I need to dress up that bit more.
In terms of shoes it’s mostly loafers or sneakers. Ballet flats are a more recent addition to this repertoire.
And with Melbourne’s unpredictable weather a cardigan and blazer are never far from my reach - even during supposedly warmer months. A coat might not be truly trans seasonal but I wear mine almost every day for four or five months of the year.
I tend to wear different tops depending on the season - such as a tank or tee shirt in spring/summer and a knit in autumn/winter. A shirt is a year round option though.
Over the next few issues of the blog I’ll be talking in more detail about some of these items. As always I’ll include the best examples and suggest how to wear them. First up - the ballet flat.
To help you prepare for Autumn and beyond I’ll post this series fortnightly rather than monthly. Which means I’ll see you in two weeks! I’d love to hear from you in the meantime. Thanks so much for reading.

Hi Jennie, enjoyed your latest blog. Like you I love to be comfy so I wear my Lulu too often, giving the impression that I do SO much excercise! I also love wearing jeans, basically all year round, love silk shirts and black pants w jacket or coat in winter, also love winter knits and scarves. Will be hard to ever go back to ‘proper shoes’ and get out of sneakers etc!
And as for HAULIER bags 😄❤️👍🏻
Hi Jennie, Really good advise about putting thought into what you tend to get a lot of wear out of, rather than just buying things you like but rarely wear.
Looking forward to the next instalment,
Sue
